But maybe something like the dark ages is normal? We just won't know till we see how other societies advanced.

This story was fascinating and shows how fast AI is moving so I thought I would post it here.

A few minutes into his 10 minute speech opening Apple’s 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple CEO Tim Cook did something remarkable—he gave up the stage to a previously unknown startup called Anki to demonstrate a car racing game. Of course, it wasn’t just any car racing game. Anki Drive is an impressive combination of robotics and artificial intelligence run on Apple’s mobile operating system iOS. And more, it’s a demonstration of how these technologies are poised to finally make it out of the lab and into the real world—into consumer products we all can use and enjoy.

Talking Two Billion Reasons Why GE Healthcare Loves Digital Health

Now it looks as if GE is expecting the singularity. That says a lot when a company like GE is making plans for it.

This is from Forbes:

Change is coming fast

And that innovation slope is moving closer to Ray Kurzweil’s singularity. Today, GE Healthcare is part of the push that is shifting this curve upward with a $2 billion investment over 5 years.

Only if their religion was as strict as Christianity; remember the pagan Romans and Greeks did not shy away from science or reason despite them having a religion.

Until we meet other advanced societies on other worlds we won't know.

According to some government officials we have made contact with them

Though one does have doubts when these people write books about it, which makes it difficult to separate those who truly want to inform the public or those merely taking advantage of the UFO phenomenon/craze to make a profit.

Honestly now my main focus is reaching the singularity. Then with the advanced technology I think all of these questions will finally be answered.

The biggest factor has been communication. Ever since humans began to speak, about 200,000, years ago we have been getting smarter exponentially. Since then we have been getting better and faster forms of communication.

Yes, then a race with wings or some other method that allows them to fly over cumbersome terrain would be an asset.

Graspers of some kind would allow for environmental manipulation.

Language is a must, obviously.

They would likely be social animals.

It would be unlikely they would strict herbivores. Omnivores and Carnivores sound like they would be more common.

The Average Cognitive Power (IQ) of a species would also play a role. Humans average at 100. Imagine a species with an average IQ of 150% human cognition, or 150. They would advance 150% as fast under our current conditions.
