Stop the insanity already.
I appreciate organization. I really do. But this is getting out of hand in this forum anyway.

Tablets do NOT get enough traffic to warrant its own section. "Consumer Electronics"... isn't that what a tablet is??
Now we have SPACE? I don't think that should be separate.
Or maybe SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY need broken up?

I love this website.
I wonder why the owners or moderators never, oh I don't know: ASK US HOW WE LIKE IT???
Just a thought.

Don't be Facebook guys and assume you know what we want. MM'kay? haha

Anyone agree? Disagree?
Discuss.

Adding subforums too quickly does create problems. I understand the desire to categorize and prep for future growth, but it can backfire. Example: the Vermont forum split off Burlington, and it has sat unused for three days. The entire state population is less than that of a decent sized city. Here in the science forum, items often cross the borders being set up. Example: Would a Casimer effect drive be in the general science forum or in the space forum? If that forum had been labeled "Astronomy" it would have been more helpful.

Yes, yes, yes! It's now far too fragmented. It's simply annoying! Agree especially with the 'Tablets' comment. And I'll add, what if you want comments on tablets vs. laptops? Does that go into 'Tablets' or 'Computers'?

The fragmention doesn't help - it hinders.

I understand that it's a lot of sub-forums in a short period of time but we wouldn't be doing all this work if we didn't think that it's a good thing for the forum activity. There are topics that posters would not create if a more specialized forum didn't exist. We believe that these new topics are distinctive, broad, and popular enough to deserve separate forums. Please note that we have the Subscribed Forums feature that can enable you to view topics from multiple forums on one page.

The same issue exists in all local forums that have sub-forums and it's not a deal-breaker. The best solution is usually to place such threads in the main forum.

So completely forego the subforums all together if they don't fit 100% in each one? Isn't that defeating the purpose?

I don't think it'd be a big deal. There will always be topics that can't be neatly placed into any specific sub-forum. There are not that many of them and the poster can usually get the answers in the main forum as well.
