Here’s some seriously bad news for lovers of man’s best friend.
A leading animal welfare researcher has claimed that the rise in global population will lead to real animals becoming the reserve of the extremely wealthy, meaning that the rest of us will turn to ‘robot dogs’ for companionship.
The absurd, unstated flaw in the premise is that it doesn't explain why real dogs will become expensive. They're not rare or in danger of becoming rare, so unless there's a "Planet of the Apes"-style plague that makes them extinct, the only reasonable conclusion is that they'll become prohibitively expensive to care for.
Yes I believe we have seen that dogs have never gotten too expensive from the amounts spent on them. Robots wouldn't give what dogs give any more than a smart phone does. But some may want to marry robots in future ;you never know with crazy humans.
People will never stop letting their dogs breed. Although more people are spaying and neutering their dogs, there will always be a massive amount of dogs that have no home. Therefore I don't think they will ever get expensive.
If dogs ever somehow got too expensive, thousands of backyard breeders would pop up nationwide wide to try and profit. Then there would be too many puppies being produced and the price of dogs would fall.
Not sure dogs will be the target for robotic endeavors i think it will be more focused on the production of android humans driven by the need of many to have the perfect subservient/programmed mate. As an example;; http://xfilexplore.com/wp-content/up...usic-group.jpg
select a model you like,program it to your specifications,take it home and enjoy, probably be like buying or leasing a car with monthly payments and warranty.
