I am in charge of providing the floral decor for daughter's wedding on October 30. Approximate size of party is 50 people, so a rather large supply of flowers will be needed.

We are on a shoestring budget.

I went to Pike's market yesterday and talked to every single flower vendor there, and they all told me that by Oct. 30 they may not have flowers. All the vendors there grow outside and not a one of them has a greenhouse.

So now I need to find a more commercial vendor locally who can supply these flowers at a price I can afford.

Any leads? Ideas? Know of flower wholesalers who will take on such an order? Help me please.

It's Pike Place Market, not Pike's Market.

You might also check with grocery stores. I know of at least one bride who got flowers from a Safeway, and they were pretty decent.

Hi!
I don't have any flower vendor connec tions, but I worked in bridal for several years and have helped a lot of gal pals have beautiful weddings while on a budget.
I don't know exactly how much budget you have, so I am going to go ultra-shoestring, and you can weed out what is and isn't helpful, based on your needs.
So the wedding is in October in Seattle.
My advice, don't go the flower route. It will be expensive and not seasonal. Go Autumn-theme. Think pumpkins and wheat with dried flowers and dried, colorful leaves mixed in. Go to the library and pull out September/October Better Homes and Gardens back issues for an idea of what I am talking about. All these things should be uber-cheap to get, as it will be so close to Halloween, and will hold up well and not wilt.
Or, if you want more fun-theme, go with an elegant Halloween motif. Think along the lines of elegant Marti Gras, and can be very beautiful. This means feathers, sequins, and satin.
Good luck!

I forgot one other idea I have done that turned out very fun and low-cost, which was balloons. You can buy them by the gross through Oriental Trading Company and rent a helium tank.
The first wedding we did was a backyard wedding, and we had family come and help blow up balloons, which were placed as big balloon bouquets on the tables, weighted down with spray-painted gold rocks. It was silver and gold theme, and looked great.
The other wedding we did was red and gold - we had red balloons blown up without helium, but made into bouquets like a birthday party, and then the reception had the red balloons all over the floor with non-blown-up balloons on the table for guests to blow up and play with as favors. There were a lot of kids at that wedding and they had a blast running around with the balloons, bumping them back and forth, and then ultimately stomping on them and popping them at the end of the evening, which made clean-up easy!
