I have a 12 yr. old son who plays ice hockey. We're relocating south of Seattle and are trying to find a program he can play in around Federal Way (where my company is). Any suggestions? He's a solid B player and we coming from Massachusetts where ice hockey is religion.

As well, any there any baseball programs that go year round (in-door) similarly in the area?

Thanks so much to all!

Default Ice Hockey in Renton

The only hockey league I know of is the one in Renton, WA. The name of the facility is Castle Ice. The other two I know of are in Kirkland and Everett which would be even farther from Federal Way. We moved to Washington from NJ so I know what you mean about it being a religion. My son was playing when he was 4 years old but when we moved to Washington, he played about 4 years and just lost the interest. There might be something in Tacoma because I remember my husband taking my son to a game out there once a year on the schedule. You can maybe do a search on that to find out if they have a league out there. This is actually a good time to get the info because I believe the tryouts/team placements are at the end of the summer and the league starts in October. During the summer they run a stick and puck and also clinics in Kirkland but not sure about Renton. I'm sure they do. Good luck to you. It's such a big commitment for the parents as much as it is for the kids, but I sure do miss seeing my son play.
All the best!

Default Youth Hockey in Seattle

Welcome to WA! Actually I live in Federal Way but was born and raised on the East Coast so it was difficult finding a youth hockey league for my son as well. We joined the Kent Valley Hockey Association. It's a quick drive from Federal Way. Check out their website, the association is building itself up to make themselves a prominent force in the area. Hockey Information (http://www.familynightout.com/Hockey.html - broken link)

Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) will be affliated with this facility starting in 2008.

Good Luck!

I was wondering how sucessful you were in finding a hockey league for your son. We are also looking at relocating to the Seattle area from California. My son is also 12 and is a PeeWee A player. Any help you found would be greatly appreciated.
