What's that saying about the road to hell being paved with good intentions?
That's exactly how I feel. I'm not religious, my husband is not religious, my kids won't be forced to be religious, but we celebrate Easter and Christmas in the grand commercial style these holidays have been celebrated for quite some time now.

When my kids are older, we'll include them in how we adopt a family for the major holidays, and they'll learn about sharing and helping those less fortunate.

I really could care less what they call the holiday, though.

Geez - could they have picked a tougher phrase for the kiddos? Try saying 'spring spheres" 3x quickly.

Ah well, at least they didn't call them "bunny balls."

That was my first thought - it's a real tongue twister!
Somehow, I don't think this expression is going to catch on...

I've no problem with them renaming Easter eggs and I'll second "bunny balls". We celebrate the holidays but stick with the commercial versions. No apologies; it's fun.

I don't celebrate Easter in the religious sense but I just have an issue with people wanting to change traditions in the name of political correctness. It's all about walking on egg shells-excuse the pun- for the few who are easily offended, and it stinks.

It is especially funny considering the word "Easter" is derived from the Lastin "Estres" meaning the period of reproduction in animals. Yep, Easter was orginally a pagan fertility celebration - hence the bunnies, eggs and baby chicks.

Christians appropriated this celebration for their own purposes (like Christmas),

Spring Spheres indeed.

Fair enough but don't you want to see the most conservative person you know have to say bunny balls?

LOL, I agree. That would be pretty humorous.

Is this the latest effort by the Seattle School District to reverse decades of out-migration and falling test scores ? My guess is it will have the opposite effect.

It's kind of silly to change it since most people's version of Easter is just a Spring celebration. (as mentioned above, Christian's hijacked it).

I'm sure if schools started catering to Muslim holidays and assuming all of the Christian kiddos and their families would be a-ok with it, there would be some "PCness" going on with the Christian folk. Just depends on your perspective.
