Hey CD Seattle,

I am considering a possible move to Seattle. Seattle has always been on my list of cities I've wanted to live in. In fact I had a model of the Space Needle all my life growing up. (About a year ago, I bought the Lego Architecture series of the Space Needle...I know I'm a nerd but it's cool haha). I got the chance to visit March 2010 and LOVED it. That was my senior year at UT and after I graduated I moved to DC. Been in DC for the past year and I'm so sick of it. It is completely opposite of my style.

I love the gorgeous natural setting of Seattle. It is breathtaking! This is what I'm looking for:

- Can afford up to $1200 a month on a large studio or 1br
- Somewhere that isn't yuppified. DC/Arlington is exploding with yuppies. It is really hard to be around. I actually hate going out to any bars anymore. I am not a big nightlife guy...meaning I don't club or anything. I am very laid back, but enjoy going to bars to grab a few drinks with friends after work/weekends.
- Being somewhere that is in good distance of some good dining, shopping and entertainment is ideal
- If possible, a place that offers a great view of the skyline. Seattle boasts one of the prettiest skylines I've seen.
- Walking friendly
- An area where there are a good amount of young people. Not talking crazy, partying college kids. Just a younger crowd. 20 somethings. (I'm 26)

I might be leaving out some things, but that is the main criteria. Also, is owning a car in the type of area I described good? Bad? I don't like being super dependent on my car, but having it is always nice for going to get bigger things or if you want to take a trip outside the city.

Thanks for reading this guys!

Yep, that's doable. Here's an easy link to a rental website...

Seattle Rentals Search Results

You could try the usual suspects of Belltown, Capitol Hill, Columbia City, Ballard, Fremont, South Lake Union, etc. for places to live. I live in the burbs so not the best person to give you info on this...but that's a start. I also love Queen Anne and West Seattle...but might not fit your criteria as far as more yuppified regions. Though I think the yuppies here might be a different breed than East Coast yupps.

You don't have to have a car or you could belong to Zipcar and grab a rental when you need it. It just depends on how much hiking and skiing you want to do.
