Need to find a place that is close to ameniteis but not in a cement city, a little greenery would be nice. Not too close to freeway noise either.

Renton has it's share of retirees, and an awesome senior center, which you only have to be 50 to participate in. It also has greenery. Some parts of Renton are a little too close to I-405, so it "can" have freeway noise, if you're in the wrong part. And there's plenty of shopping and restaurants. School are mostly bad, but that's not a concern if you're retirees. I live in Renton. I like it, and take advantage of it's amenities, which include nice walking trails.

You might like the areas along route 900 between Issaquah and Renton,
very dense trees overhanging the road, and older homes with acreage.
You can get to shopping in the highlands, and more interesting, newer amenities just across the 405 by Boeing at the Landing. I've always like the area between 108th and 148th.

The Landing in Renton | Welcome

I am considering the Highlands -Issaquah area. My grandkids are in west Seatac but pre school in Renton area so would like to be pretty close so I can babysit as needed. I am also an avid sewer so joining a sewing group would be high on my list.

I wouldn't move to Renton. If you want good retirement areas, check out Bellingham, Anacortes, Whidbey Island, and numerous others.

Renton's core city is a mix of industrial and small, traffic prone roads. I would not consider it an ideal place for people to retire too. It isn't the safest city in the region, nor is it known for any stellar beauty.

I am not saying Renton is bad, but it is not a place I would think of to retire. There are just so many other BETTER places in the northwest to choose. If you got some requirements like weather, healthcare, safety, etc, please let us know, and I know we would be happy to help narrow it down, or provide some good choices. I personally would be happy to help.

What? Bellingham, Anacortes, WI and numerous others aren't going to place her in a situation/location where OP can be near and help her kid(s) and grandchildren. The area that Hemlock specifies actually is quite beautiful and very quiet with lots of greenery.

I was kinda thinking of south of Seattle like Federal Way , Auburn or some place close to the Puget Sound but still need to be driving distance to family w/out having to always driving the freeway. I have seen how terrifing I-5 can be most of the time. Renton was my family suggestion as they know it has a good hospital and such. I think they are worried I will be too far out in the boonies..ha..

I've always thought of Renton as two cities in one. There is the "plain", where Boeing has its operations, and it is quite urban feeling. Then there is the area east of 405 which is much more residential. An interesting suburb, and one of the first suburbs of Seattle. I wouldn't discount this city, however, keep in mind it kind of has become the northern center of the Pugetropolis, and that alone can be a little scary, however with great potential. The central location was once considered a prime spot for a new NBA/NHL arena...I think those proposals are all but dead now.
