My family just rescued a pit bull/boxer mix puppy a few weeks ago. I have him in 12 weeks of obedience classes at Petco, but I was wondering if there were any trainers locally that specifically work with the pit bull breed. I did a Google search, but only came up with a program for low-income families.

I really want to make sure that we properly train and socialize the little guy.

Anyway, if anyone has any recommendations they would be appreciated.

Please don't turn this into a debate about pit bulls.

Thanks!

V. =)

We just lost our pit bull mix ... 11 1/2 years old. He was the most amazing dog ever - he changed many people's minds about pits. Here's one good resource:

We train our Staffy/Bulldog mix with Prescott Breeden of Pawsitive Packleader, he is amazingly knowledgeable and has a very positive approach to work with any dog. Highly recommended, for reference see his articles in the Examiner.

Thank you both so much.

Tobester, I'm sorry for your loss. We're hoping our little guy can win over some doubters as well!

As a Pit Bull owner also, thank you for trying to find breed specific training.

I found a list of trainers here: The Smiling Pit Bull: Trainers
