I'm just wondering what you opinion on this is? I live in Montana right now but I'm planning on moving to Seattle somewhere along the line soon as I love it.

To me it's a "Big City" but when you look at places like even Los Angeles, and more so New York City, and even more so something like the largest city in the world Tokyo on Google Maps Seattle seems Tiny!!

Is that an unfair comparison to start comparing Manhattan and Tokyo to Seattle? Do you still think it is fair to say Seattle is a "big city"?

It's definitely a major city - to compare it to places like NYC or LA just isn't fair (Those are just enormous cities, in a league of their own). Seattle is more comparable to a city like Boston, size-wise.

Big City unfortunately, it lost it's Big Town charm a long time ago.. Sadly, even my home town of Portland, OR is losing its "Big Town" charm and entering the Big City classification, although it still would be under the Large Big Town or Small Big City category. It just isn't what it use to be.

Dont listen to this person, they are always negative.

Seattle has its own charm and its own culture.

We have an IKEA. That (in my opinion) sets the definition of a "big" city.

I think of Seattle as a mid-sized city. It's big enough to have city services like good transit and an extensive network of social service agencies, but it's not so large that traversing the city takes hours or that people are stacked on top of each other.

Seattle definitely seemed like a "big city" to me......it is one of the largest tv markets in the nation, major airport, population etc. Is it Chicago nyc or LA? No but it doesn't have to be to be a big city. It was just as "big" to me as san fran, dallas, boston, Denver, etc seemed to me

Although Seattle is physically smaller than many other cities, it is quite dense in the central areas and feels big city to me. Phoenix has a larger population and a larger area than Seattle, but has a small city feel to it.

Seattle is definitely a major city. Lots of A-list companies, concerts, professional sports teams, 4.5 million people.

I think the fact that it has a higher profile in recent years gives the perception that it's bigger than it might really be. I think it's bigger than a big town, but not a major city. I'd hate it if it were like L.A. or NYC.
