Their is talk about completely revitalizing Rainier Square. There are a number on ideas going around about this. Some want a big new shopping center and others want a high rise tower with the ground floor dedicated to shopping.

What do you guys think? Should Rainier Square be left alone or should it be transformed into something better?

It desperately needs new tenants. Trouble is, the shops have terrible visibility on the street, so people don't just wander in. I miss the Crepe de Paris.

Rainier Square has always been a little odd. It's a great pathway to stay out of the rain between 4th Avenue and One Union Square, but it always felt a little odd.

I'm not sure what kind of retail they can put in there that would draw people in.

(Anyone else miss Fifth Avenue Records? I think they had the most knowledgeable staff on classical music of any of the record stores in Seattle. And they reviewed Vangelis' "Heaven and Hell" using the phrase "a concoction of staggering pretentiousness" which has stuck with me for thirty years.)

I don't really care, we have only used their parking garage a few times while attending events at the 5th Ave Theater.
