To all those who are thinking of moving here, let me set the record straight on what we have here in Seattle, and dispel the myths being propagated by the naysayers who try to put down its good name:

1. Most beautiful landscape of any city in North America.
2. Perfect weather year round, never below 40 and never above 75
3. The best seafood in the country
4. The best FOOD in the country!
5. A great downtown core with the best shopping on the West Coast
6. The best bars and nightlife in the country
7. The most diehard sports fans and best sports venues in the US
8. The most dominant team in football
9. A great public transportation system
10. A decent freeway system, considering the topographical challenges
11. A neverending list of events and cultural options to suit everyone
12. A diverse and robust economy with the biggest companies in America headquartered here
13. A hugely diverse population where you're guaranteed to meet people from all walks of life
14. The most down to earth, friendliest people if you yourself are friendly
15. The best ice cream in the world! (Molly Moons)
16. Best parks and park system in America
17. Most thriving International District in America
18. Most intelligent and educated working class in America
19. The most fit and active populace in the US (well maybe a tie with Portland)
20. Best skiing in North America outside of Whistler
21. Best lakes and water activities in the summer
22. Most amazing skyline at night
23. Thriving hip hop community and the future of hip hop in America (see Macklemore)
24. Did I mention the most dominant team in football? Go Hawks!

Contributions to this list are welcome! Haters can hate but Seattle will always be great! Thanks

While I agree with the topic, I have to clarify a few things:

2. Perfect weather year round, never below 40 and never above 75

I agree it's great weather, but I remember it being 85 last summer, and 28 a couple of time this winter, 30-32 several mornings.

5. A great downtown core with the best shopping on the West Coast

Bellevue has better shopping

20. Best skiing in North America outside of Whistler
I found the skiing to be a lot better in the CA Sierras

Thanks for a great post, though!

1. Most beautiful landscape of any city in North America.
NOT SURE

2. Perfect weather year round, never below 40 and never above 75
SAN DIEGO'S WEATHER IS BEST WITH A SUMMER DAY EVERY DAY. SEATTLE BETTER THAN EAST COAST EXTREMES.

4. The best FOOD in the country!
NOT SURE YET

5. A great downtown core with the best shopping on the West Coast
SEEMS NOTHING SPECIAL

7. The most diehard sports fans and best sports venues in the US
DOUBT IT. COMPARE TO NEW YORK, FENWAY, SMALLER MARKETS. ATT PARK SEEMS BETTER THAN THE MARINER STADIUM.

8. The most dominant team in football
NO WAY

9. A great public transportation system
SEEMS GOOD

10. A decent freeway system, considering the topographical challenges
SEEMS A VERY FREQUENT COMPLAINT IS TRAFFIC AND NOT ENOUGH INFRASTRUCTURE AND LANES

14. The most down to earth, friendliest people if you yourself are friendly
PLEASE

16. Best parks and park system in America
CALIFORNIA IS PRETTY, PRETTY GOOD

18. Most intelligent and educated working class in America
COME ON.

21. Best lakes and water activities in the summer
THE WATER TEMPERATURE IS TOO COLD I HEAR.

22. Most amazing skyline at night
SO SO

Only got to #2 to see what a nonsense you've concocted. No need to read much further. Visit Seattle sometime, perhaps try to live there for a few years (you probably cannot afford it), and then let's see.

Seattle was a super nice city, back in the 70s, 80s, perhaps even 90s.

Now that the masses have heard of it, it's Kalifornicated to death by LA transplants who've overrun it with their S(tupid) U(sless) V(ehicles), while commenting "Seattle traffic is not that bad".

One thing you'll find OP is that the locals tend to berate themselves for a variety of reasons.

Maybe it's to push away all the flood who would move here had they not spoken ill about the area. LOL

As for your list. ...

Food ... I think Chicago is better. There's no decent gumbo or Cajun restaurant around. None. There's a few in Chicago. Also, the only place for a decent Chicago style pizza is Kylie's in Fremont. Way way too many places have a snooty atmosphere.

Chicago and the southern part of Wisconsin area has awesome lakes for fishing, swimming, etc.

For sure though, Seattle punches above its weight. Few cities less than 1 million have the options that Seattle has. Portland is another.

1. Maybe. It really is spectacular. I continue to be impressed by the beauty in the Seattle area, and I've lived here 35 years.
2. I'm not bothered by the cool, gray, drizzly skies that Seattle frequently has, but a lot of people are. I like the cool, cloudy days, and hate hot sunny days, so Seattle's a pretty good place for me. But perfect? Nah. And although it often is between 40 and 75, it's not that unusual to be below that in the winter and above it in the summer. We almost always get a few days in the 90's. I'm sure there are places with better weather.
4. Nah. It's good and getting better, but lots of places have great food.
8. Absolutely correct.
18. Seattle is one of the most educated cities in the US, but I've seen no data that suggests that Seattle's working class is particularly educated. And even if it's true, is that a good thing? It matters if my bus driver has a master's degree?
19. Colorado has been consistently rated the most fit state. I like the fact that people here like to get out and exercise. It's a good thing.
24. Now you're talkin!

Glad you like it here, but you're exaggerating quite a bit. Seattle is a great town, but there are very few things that it is the best in.
