Well, FWIW, most folks seem to say "fe" as in gopher (without the go and the r)

"Fuh"

It always bothers me when people pronounce it as "foe"

Pho is certainly NOT your foe - More like a good friend!

(What can I say? I love the stuff!)

Really? It always bothers you?

Had to use Dictionary.com to know what "pho" was. I can honestly say that it's never bothered me, since I don't believe I've ever heard the word before.

Guess that's the difference between Seattle and redneck-ville.

Yeh, we have many Pho places all over Seattle and the Eastside. May as well stay home and eat instant Ramen, in my opinion. Can't understand the popularity.

A good bowl of pho is truly a work of art. If the broth has been properly prepared, there are few noodle soups as rich and flavorful. The problem with the popularity of pho in Seattle is that there are all kinds of terrible pho restaurants, so it takes some effort to find the good ones.

This article does a good job of explaining what pho is and what makes it delicious.

There was a restaurant/hipster bar in Boston's South End called Pho Republic.

The "o" has a distinctive accent mark on any restaurant sign, thus (?) indicating a certain pronunciation, I assume.

Yes, I learned it's not pronounced as it appears! It's pronounced like "fuh."

It's pronounced "Fuh", with almost a question mark at the end. And Hemlock, you just need more exposure. A good pho will have great meat, and be topped with fresh basil, bean sprouts, sliced chili pepper, and chunks of lime.
I have enjoyed some of the names of Pho places, like Pho Shizzle, and Pho King. I'd like to see an Italian- Vietnamese fusion joint named Pho Getaboutit.
