I would buy 5 acres worth of buildings in downtown, tear them down, fence the property with 24 hour police, and build a 20,000 sf house.

Five acres worth of buildings in downtown Seattle would probably cost more than a billion dollars. But I love the idea of tearing things down. I don't know where I'd live if I had a billion dollars, but wouldn't it be fun to buy a bunch of townhouse units, tear them down, and plant broccoli in it's place?

at any rate if im not wrong, can a person 15 years ago a person get 5 acres of land at SLU for 1 billion?

This thread has got me thinking about this song..

If I was a rich man, I'd have a nice home right in the center of the town with ducks, chickens and geese and they would squack night and day annoying all the people.. AHAHAHAHA..

I'd probably also have a highly fortified electric fence and several guard towers with highly trained and heavily armed personnel who would take out any intruder who would attempt to harm my animals or trespass into my fortress.

I would become the king of Capitol Hill.. Muahaha

I like both DT Seattle and DT Bellevue - I've have a upper floor/penthouse condo in each place. I adore Upper Queen Anne, so I'd have a lovely house on the south slope there. Cap Hill is one of my favorites, so I'd have a place on the west slope with a view of DT and SLU. I'd also have an apt in Prague, one in Zurich and probably one in Frankfurt or Munich (can't decide) as well. For the winter months - I'd go for a place in Whistler, BC and a place near Boulder, CO. I don't actually want a mansion - I want to be able to lay my head down wherever I feel like, whenever I feel like it. I'd have lots of nice 1-2 bedroom condos all over the world... The exception being Upper Queen Anne - for some reason I'd want a house there. Which is odd for me. I hate feeling tied to a house.

Well, I'm not really a city dweller but if I had to live in the city I'd have a zeppelin built and I'd just hover over the city...probably have the top few floors of various buildings to serve as landing pads.

I would live on Vashon Island, build a large property on the northern end of the island

That seems like an awful lot of work just to build a house. You always need to lobby to get some zoning laws changed.

For some reason, it seems like billionaires are pretty successful at this lobbying thing, even in Seattle.
