Soon, both my brother's family and I will be in Seattle. My parents are retired and live in Kansas, but would like to move closer to us. Are there any relatively nice/safe areas within 1 hour of Seattle metro where they could buy a house/condo/townhome for >$150k?

Mt. Vernon might be just the place for them, and is just about an hour drive.

Colony Surf Club. Close to Hood Canal (Lilliwaup) and Olympic National Park.

Lakefront with dock. Access to clubhouse, tennis, swimming pool, playground, private beach (Hood Canal).

As a mathematician, I'd say there are many possibilities >$150K, <$150K not so many.
