I think Seattle worries about the most inane things. Why not invest some of that time and effort into figuring out what to do about the homeless population that has increased 20% over the past year?

While helping the homeless is a worthy goal, I'm not really sure it falls within Seattle Public Utilities' scope.

How would spending more money shipping food scraps to Oregon have any, let alone a positive impact on homeless services? Or are you suggesting that Seattle should feed the homeless by letting them sort through people's garbage for food scraps?

This is an absurd law. There are a lot of loony tunes in Seattle who know better than the rest us and are hellbent on making sure that we all conform to their way of thinking. Makes me not want to move back in the summer.

Poster number three is a prime example of the kind of loony tune I wish did not inhabit the city. Did California call you back home?

What's next?

Will there be fines for climaxing into a sock. Childless gay couples, and infertile single women are without, and we have a social responsibility to society..

I'll guess you're not a process engineer.

Just trying to make a point, not sense.

Despite someone's good intentions, this is actually going to be worse environmentally. People will tend to use their sink garbage disposals more, putting more organic matter down the sanitary sewer. That means a lot more energy and chemicals needed to treat it at the sewage treatment plant before it goes back into Elliot Bay.

Do you have data to support this? Because I have nearly stopped using mine completely. I think it's super useful to keep my compost pail right next to me when I'm working in the kitchen... everything is easier to clean. It seems so stupidly simple to use one.

My only issue is with composting bags. There are so few on the market and they're not cheap. Some people don't use them, but my kitchen is inconveniently on the second story away from the compost bin. If the city really wants to increase participation it should have a system set up to make composting bags more affordable.

So your definition of a looney tune is someone that advocates for personal and social responsibility. Oh wait, I said it... I said "social".. oh the horror! The Horror!

And I have no idea what is going on with your last sentence... feeling kinda, um.... anxious over there?

Go right ahead. That's actually encouraged. We can reduce the surplus population!

I saw a homeless guy the other day on 2nd street take a Starbuck's coffee cup out of the trash and drink the remainder in it, so that's apparently nothing new.
