What is the future of the seattle area transportation in term of light rail and freeways. Thanks!

Light rail is expanding. The north end line is scheduled to be finished in about 2-3 years, but the other lines won't be finished for at least a decade.

There probably won't be much freeway expansion (thank gawd) since the emphasis in the Seattle areas is to discourage solo commuting in personal vehicles (again, thank gawd).

Light rail will expand. Bus routes will be shifted to feed the light rail spine rather than some of the long meandering routes we have now.

And over the next 20 years the increase in autonomous cars, both privately owned and shared, is going to transform how we get around just as much as cars did a century ago.

I'd expect that there will be a limited access highway that extends from WA 18 north to US 2 along the current route of WA 202/203. I also think it's inevitable that we'll see a bridge across the sound from Des Moines to Vashon to the Key Peninsula as population expands we we're butting up against the Cascades on the east.

Oh, and Paine Field becomes a commercial airport by 2030.
