Been doing some house shopping and it's a crazy market to say the least. Wife brought up the idea of buying some land and having a pre-fab home built. We don't need a whole lot of space and the thought of having something built to our needs while saving money vs a traditional home is very enticing.

Anyone here have experience living in a pre-fab home in Seattle?

Those look cool. Land unfortunately isn't cheap depending on where you are looking. The land appraisal on my taxes has always been more than the actual house.

Those look really cool. Some cities and municipalities don't allow for prefab houses, so if you buy land, make sure it's allowed.

From my experience, you have to go very far out to get a decent piece of land (think Arlington) as builders snap up anything closer in. I have had a few clients consider this idea over the years, all of them eventually settled on a "normal" home.
