We've just moved to the area and have seen some great shops downtown. Our home is transitional / contemporary, and we're looking for suggestions for where to shop for artwork, light fixtures, hardware, tables and benches, accent pieces, etc. Are there specific areas we should focus our time? Any specific recommendations? (if this board frowns on recommending businesses, send me a pm)

We're going to make a weekend of it (Aug 28-29), so if you have other ideas we should weave in, I'd love to hear them. Maybe a fun place to stop for drink and music?

I know there will be more ideas than time, but I appreciate everyone's insight! The replies on these boards give so much better insight and information than gets returned in a google search. Thanks in advance!

You might want to check out some of the consignment shops. There are a couple in Ballard, just off Market, on 24th Ave and on Leary Way. You'll be able to find drink and music too.

Mort's Cabin is an awful lot of fun to shop in:

Mort's Cabin Lamps & Shades features handmade folk art shades and one-of-a-kind lamps by Darold Andersen.

Stuf on Market in Ballard is nice too. They just moved so they might not be on online mapping yet, but they're between the "main" part of Market and the locks. Near a coffee shop
