I'm a 20 year old girl from Colombia planning on moving to Seattle by the end of this year of next year.

Short description of me: I'm 20, speak spanish, english and portuguese. Have worked in a callcenter as a bilingual agent for almost a year now, have also taught english and portuguese for almost two years to people mostly in their 20's and 30's. And I don't know if this is important mentioning or not, I'm a photography and catalog model.

My plan is to go back to college, this time in Seattle. I know tuitions are crazy expensive for international students, so my main idea would be to go for a community college at first, and then transfer. Of course I'd like to be able to have a job to support myself (I already have where to stay, one of my closest friends lives in Seattle), but I don't have a work visa. But to be honest I'm open to anything. From bartending, to babysitting, to teaching spanish or portuguese, even modeling if there are modeling jobs available for girls like me. And after this enroll in an institution (i.e., community college, univ...).

I was wondering what are the work opportunities for a girl like me without a work visa in Seattle? Of course I'm not planning on staying any longer than what I'm allowed to, but it would be perfect if I could get a job during the time I stay in Seattle. Also, even though I'm staying at my friend's, I'm not planning on staying with him all that time, so I'd be looking for a cheap room I can rent, either with a family or with students. That's not a big issue for me now, my biggest concern is, if I'll be able to find a job (nothing that requires a work visa - tough, I know), whether it is modeling or teaching languages or even at a bar. Ideas, suggestions, opinions?

I'm open to all kinds of opinions and/or ideas! Thank you

The first problem is that as a student on the F-1 visa, you are not allowed to work off campus the first year. You would be limited to any part time job you could get on campus, and those are few at the community colleges. After the first year, any off-campus employment must be related to your area of study and must be authorized prior to starting any work by the Designated School Official handling foreign students. You would be limited to cash-under the table jobs such as babysitting or tutoring, but even then your customers could be subject to prosecution if caught.

Foreign student tuition at the community colleges is 3 times what residents pay, at $279 per credit, so for 10 credits $840. Still a lot less than a major university but not cheap.

I'm talking about art modeling, not porn. There's nothing wrong with it. There are usually several informal "life drawing" sessions taking place in the Seattle area on a weekly basis. She said she's already modeling.

I went to Cornish for three years, many, many, many moons ago. Primarily learned to draw the figure (female or male) from Bill Cumming.

Note: I'm not entirely convinced that the OP is not a troll.

Were you also enjoying her nude modeling pics, CrazyDOnkey??

Wow, the link on her profile to her modeling pics is, ummm, how can I say, muy caliente?? Senorita, I may be in need of some Spanish lessons to help express myself a little better.. So, if you do get to Seattle, can I employ you as my instructor?

Manuela Dorado Novoa

Nope, didn't. Still haven't. If you're enjoying them, that's fine. Not much action in Sedro-Woolley.
