Our multigenerational family wants to live out of the I5/405 corridor (no need for commute) and we want a good place to bring up children. We have looked everywhere: Gig Harbor, Vashon, and Enumclaw seem to have the best opportunities for property with homes for 2 families. A bit worried about the remote nature of Enumclaw as the kids grow and want more culture nearby. We also want the 2nd home to be rented out in the future. Any thoughts? Best chance of maintaining property values?

Vashon is a special place. Although relatively affordable, its allure as a weekend destination, wonderfully quirky ways and proximity to Seattle mean that it will always have value. Beyond that (I lived there 3 years), it would be a special place to live. Here's a New York Times article from a few years ago that still very much applies: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2012/04/01...?referer=&_r=0

Keystone Peninsula? Relatively close to Gig Harbor for shopping, not too far from Tacoma for entertainment and culture.

Lakebay WA Real Estate - 104 Homes For Sale | Zillow

Properties on or near a beach or with water access could potentially be used as vacation rentals in the future.

Thanks; Vashon seems out now because inventory is low; it was our first choice. I will look into Keystone Peninsula. Happy for all advice!

What about this:

35435 SE 47th Pl, Fall City, WA 98024 | Zillow

Three and two bedrooms. In "park-like setting", so one could be a vacation rental.
