I plan on moving to Seattle in the near future, but I need a bit of guidance from someone who knows a thing or two about the area. I'm on an extremely limited budget of roughly 5-600 bucks (& yes, I'm very aware that I will need to be in a roomate situation). As for work, I typically dabble In retail or food related jobs, so being close to some sort of shopping destination would be incredibly helpful. I'm looking to live in an area that's very well connected to public transit. & would very much like to be roughly within a 30 minute radius of downtown Seattle. I had a friend recommend some nice places north a bit, but I'd like to hear what you guys think. Im just a clueless 21 year old; any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Northgate:

Minimum wage is $11/hr in Seattle and will gradually be increased to $15/hr by 2019 (large employers) or 2022 (small employers), so you might be able to raise your budget a bit.

The #41 will get you from the Northgate Transit Center to Downtown Seattle in 20 minutes. Other routes connect you to the U District, Green Lake, Wallingford, Fremont, Ballard, and many other destinations in the North End or on the Eastside.

Lake City, Greenwood or Northgate, rent a room. You may have to push to $700.

I am planning to live near space needle/belltown/first hill. Only thing which is stopping me is expensive parking. Greenwood looks great and public transport to downtown also looks fine;

....And live in a dirty dump of a house with 6-8 other people (no joke). If you want places that don't look like you'll need a tetanus booster bump it up to $800.

There are no affordable neighborhoods in Seattle, only expensive and slightly less expensive.
