I would expect the best Indian food overall to be in Redmond/Bellevue. Anyone tried anything over there?

Nothing really stands out in terms of taste and quality. You can try Royal India in Kirkland, one of the few places that still serves lunch buffet:

I have heard good things about a relatively new restaurant called Turmeric Kitchen, but haven't tried it out myself:

Yeah, sadly they have permanently closed their buffet.

Try Chili's in the U District. Best Indian food I've found in Seattle. I've taken several of my Indian friends and they have been impressed. It is southern Indian food btw. Excellent place!

Agreed, it’s quite close to my Green Lake office.

I went to Xi’an Noodles in U District for lunch today, got the cumin lamb hand cut noodles, very tasty. They opened up inside seating again, have the condiments (sesame paste, spicy oil, garlic, vinegar) at each table, easy street parking nearby. Xi’an style Chinese food is quite different from most Chinese food, try it if you can!
