I've been looking at rental listings in Olympia and some include trash, recycling, water and sewer, some do not. I'm curious what those usually run so I can compare rents and what our total costs would be.

I come from a land where you can't charge tenants for water and trash is included in property taxes, these expenses are brand new to me.

Thanks!!

I'm not from Olympia (yet), but I'm researching for a move there in late June. I'm not sure whether this is standard, but I've come across an apartment listing where the water/sewer/garbage was assessed as a separate charge of $55 per month. That leads me to believe it's in that ballpark.

When we lived in olympia (2012) our W/S/G was $200 every other month. 1,900 sq ft home.

I live in the Olympia area. Many apartments charge extra for City Utilities: Water + Sewer + Garbage.
My apartment is a small, one bedroom. Until recently I was paying about $45 per month for W+S+G.
Then the complex was sold and the new owners raised the rates. Probably to be more in line with what they were paying.
My monthly utility bill is now more like $66. The average for those same fees for a single family home is about $112 per month. The average SFH in this area has 2.23 people living in it. So the average cost for these City Utilities are just under $51 per person. My father owns a small, 5 unit apartment building. The rent for those apartments includes the utility cost. However, we are looking at changing that now. The two month bill from the City for W+S+G for that apartment complex is $600 for the two month cycle or $300 per month. There are about 4 tenants living there right now. So the expense for each tenant is about $75 per month. Based on these 3 examples I would say that the cost in Olympia for W+S+G fees in 2015 is between $51 and $75 per month. Average of all 3 is about $64 per month.
