Hey guys,

My girlfriend and I are trying to decide if a trip to Seattle from 12/14 - 12/18 would be a good idea weather-wise? Is it bearable, I mean, even for people who aren't from the Pacific NW? Does it rain everyday, etc? Any help would be appreciated!

If it isn't raining every day you're here, it will almost certainly be very gray with the skies so low they feel like the clouds are just a few feet above you. It could even snow, but that's not likely, but it could - more likely sleet than snow if it gets that cold. Days are in the 40s, usually.

If you like being inside, the weather is exciting in comparison to the Xmas vibe of SoCal, which always felt so off to me since it never felt like Xmas there with all the sun and in the 70s. Anyway, it's cool up here with all the cold and wet and the Xmas music and decorations. You can wear scarves and boots and thick coats and really NEED them! It feels like Xmas, so if you're into that, the weather adds to the festive ambiance. The ferries are great, but again the wind is so cold this time of year. Still, I love the ferries year-round - they are so comfortable with lots of seating inside and massive windows to look outside at the gorgeous scenery. And they keep the upper inside decks toasty warm. Just don't sit next to the doors that go to the outside decks.

There's lots to do inside here if you want to stay out of the cold and wet. And if you come those dates you mentioned, you're going to definitely be in cold and almost for sure be in rain. Only you can know if you find that bearable.

Probably count on it being cloudy, it's doesn't rain as much as they say but it might be raining! So far this winter has been mild so it may not be as cold as usual, but you'll still be a jacket or whatever. Check out Bellevue, the city to the west across the lake it's pretty cool! Anyways, hope you enjoy your trip here!!!

Just be prepared. The winter here is totally unpredictable. It could be sunny and cold, rain, snow, or even frozen fog, or freezing rain. The last couple of years we have had no snow that has stuck, but we have gotten as much as 24" from a single storm in years past. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the most accurate forecast, that period will be just Rain, some heavy, and cool, with some snow byDecember 21st.

Yes likely bearable.
Likely cloudy. Very possibly light rainy. Likely in the 50s but could be 40s or 60s. Comparable weather from November to March.
What do you want to do here?
Are there other months you are considering?

You could expect 1 or 2 days of partly cloudy days but be prepared for it to be windy, low 40's, fairly high humidity.
You could expect 4 days of cloudy and drizzly weather, low wind but high humidity, low 40's to may be 50.
You may be lucky. The JetStream move weather systems thru the area quickly.
Don't expect CA weather.

Is it bearable? Waterfowl love to winter in the western parts of the PNW.

ok enough....=)

The town is great any season. Very romantic as many of the tourists are going. There are small restaurants at Pikes Place Market and many new and bright things to see. Museums are in that area. The Marriott Waterfront is walking distance to all of this.

Downtown will be people shopping. Go to Chihuly Glass at the Space Needle for a real treat. Rare and special. Several excellent restaurants in the area. Prices will be slightly cheaper than L.A. Take cabs...much easier and the Train to and from the Airport.

Have a good time...tip. Do some advance planning on the type of food you wish....and make reservations. Remember Seatown is the Coffee Capital.
