Hi! Been looking at the Greenville SC area.
I currently live in Gig Harbor, and while it's really beautiful here, I'm disenchanted with WA State.
The taxes, the weather, the politics, all take a toll on a person. Ha ha and talk about tolls, that's another issue.
Yes, I understand that no place is perfect, but WA State has lost it's luster, at least for me.
For instance, taxes keep going up everywhere.
Premium gas in SC is only 2.88 but here it's 3.49 or more!
The ferry used to be $7.80 for us from Port Orchard to Seattle.
Now it's 25.00 and that is because of gas prices!
Tacoma sales tax is 10.1!
The traffic is getting worse and worse every year. You have to really really plan if you want to travel anywhere. I don't think being cloistered in Gig Harbor just to avoid that is a workable living situation.
So there you have it, that's what has been going on with me.
Please no nasty comments!
If anyone feels similar, please post. And what are you plans? Staying? Leaving? And if so, where?

Very underrated scenery in NC and SC, plus the food is a million times better, as are the people

I loved the Southern Hospitality when we visited NC in April.

SC sales tax is 6-7% depending on the county and has an that starts at 3% on income over $3k and goes to 7% on income above $14k.

Cheaper housing and better BBQ than here though, even though mustard-based style is my least favorite.

Go for it. It's easy to get burned out on living in one place for too long. We were extra crispy on Seattle after 25 years. North Georgia is working nicely for us.

Extra crispy lol.
So how do you adapt to the humidity? My hubby is a native WA person but I'm more adaptable to the heat.

Go for it. Me, 64 years in Oregon and wife for 38 years, We sold the Oregon small farm; Sold the home with a big garden for the city life of Redmond WA. I get to stay in Oregon in a shared house with 5 others, to support my 98 yo father. We no longer drove to Portland unless we had pressing business.

Stay out of Hurricane Alley, in SC, OP! Don't buy too close to the coast.
