First Showbox then El Corazon. Next up will probably be Paramount Theater.

I guess anything is possible but I don't think so. The Paramount is much beloved and would be supported by many old time wealthy Seattle benefactors. Here's the current lineup, popular place:

The part that quite possibly bothers me more than the idea of losing the venue itself is the fact the owner who sold it decided to lie to the public about any demolition plans in the works a few months back, but finally admitted otherwise with the most recent updates on the matter. I guess he wanted to avoid the inevitable backlash from the local music community for as long as possible over cashing out on the property - but sometimes honesty is the best policy IMO, even if it's news that many people won't be happy about.

Truthfully, the building isn't in the best of shape (IIRC, it's over 120 years old, and will likely need work sooner than later), and I wonder if that may have played a part in the matter (maintenance/renovation costs vs cashing out), but in any case, it's a place I hate to see go - especially with it being one the last true "dive" venues in town, and it's cultural significance to Seattle music. I've probably seen well over 100 shows there, and have even been fortunate enough to play a handful of times there as well. I'll certainly continue to enjoy it while I can .
