They're rare enough as it is today. What about next year? SPD is losing police faster than they can hire and train them. Tacoma doesn't seem to have a problem nor does the other major cities.

Criminals run the streets freely in Seattle now. Soon they will rule them unless Seattle citizens do something about it.

Since I don't see that happening this sure could get interesting.

It's a shame how much corruption there is in politics.

Police "man" and "woman" should be in the title.

But yes, it is a real problem in Seattle. The city needs better support for its police department, seriously.

Law and Order seems to have taken a back seat to letting everything just kind of happen and the notion that the police can't do anything about it is common. This is a systemic problem in Seattle and needs to be resolved quickly. I like the current mayor, but she needs to do more to support Seattle police. And soon.

It's probably a cyclical thing: politicians handcuff the police; police officers leave and/or are less willing to respond; people stop reporting crime because it's futile; politicians smile and say, "hey look, crime is down during my watch"; voters elect new politicians who are more in touch with reality; police are told to crack down on criminals; more crime gets reported because police are doing their jobs; reports of police abuse starts to escalate; politicians handcuff the police...

Agree with this. Not even worth bothering to call the cops for most things, they can't do anything unless it is bias or blood right now.

Police officers? In Seattle they are more or less glorified Security Officers.

Crazy high cost of living with all the "tech money" ain't helping recruit and retain public servants. Many other cities where a police officer salary can make a go of it and attain a much better QOL.

.
Why? There's already a perfectly good term: "officers".

SPD is advertising on indeed to recruit. I never thought I would see a day where a former prestigious job would need to be on indeed.
