In 2014, $1,500 would have paid for 550 square feet. According to the study, that means in 2019, people have to pay about $3.43 per square foot, compared to $2.73 in 2014."

I want to move to Seattle... badly, but cost of living is high
$1000 in San Antonio has me in a luxury apartment with my own detached garage and amenities. I still plan to move, but hard to find places I’d want to live in a price range that was not double or triple what I pay

Why do you want to move here? It rains a lot, the streets are loaded with street people and mentally ill people, traffic is terrible, the transit is very crowded and housing costs a fortune. At this price, you could live somewhere with better weather, like CA.

Why not move here? It’s beautiful...why constantly discourage others in this forum for wanting to be here? BTW...I’m here for the 3rd visit in 30 days and find lots to see/do Yeah the weather is dreary but I’ve experienced some nice days too. I’ve not seen the homelessness to the extent I’ve read. Yet. Most people are friendly as well

You have to understand there are still remnants of the famed "Lesser Seattle" movement from the 60's and 70's. It was started by the late newspaper columnist, Emmett Watson, who tongue in cheek, declared we don't want any newcomers. Keep out, he said. And then went on to describe the terrible weather, the rude, Seattle introverts, etc. I communicated with Mr. Watson in his later life, and he told me he was actually a Seattle booster, but this mantra helped his writing career! RIP Emmett!

$1000 in San Antonio has me in a luxury apartment with my own detached garage and amenities. I still plan to move, but hard to find places I’d want to live in a price range that was not double or triple what I pay
