to take a pay cut because anything above 140k is rare. Amazon calls me almost once a year to discuss senior
jobs but they are only willing to pay 125k to work in Seattle. I call total BS on the OP !

PS: I lived on the Sammamish Plateau until 2000 then sold my house for 550k and moved to Denver.
My previous William Buchan home is now worth 1.8M. I can never go back now. I'm priced out of the market.
The people who bought homes from 1995-2000 and stayed are sitting pretty..

And yes, I think the housing market bubble will pop. Too many people are over-extended.
If you're managing people then yes you can make $200K in IT. If individual contributor then yes you probably cap out at $150K.

My nephew is 28 years old.
5 years ago he was recruited by Apple and started out at $185,000 straight out of college.
He does hold some patents now so I’m thinking he is making a bit more.
I now several non college graduates that make 175-225k.
I also know several people that are a bit more well off that are every bit interested in good schools for their kids.

Yes; to be honest, Andy, you need to include that info, because so much more of his salary goes to housing. And unless he's located close to work, there's also a hellish commute involved, unless he can take the train. Where does he live?

Ruth I thought the pay was 10-15 percent off at best.
I wouldn’t think that that was way way higher.
My nephew is quite the character.
3 of his friends and him (they are all young tech engineers and really good guys ) made an introduction video about themselves and that they wanted to rent a nice house.
Pretty good professionally done vid actually.
They spread the video around and chose the best offer that fit for them.
They ended up with a nice 5 bedroom hill top house on 2-1/2 acres in the Los Gatos Hills with a nice pool and landscape service.
15 -20 minute commute and one guy from Europe ride a bike.
Cost them $1,250 each.

I do have to admit this is not the usual situation facing tech workers but they did have multiple replies.

Cool story! Smart kids! Sounds like a great party frat house!

They are more into the extreme x game stuff.
I’ve never seen him drunk or stoned.
His group is smarter than my group.
Also for full disclosure their house is nice but hasn’t been remodeled in close to 35-40 years.
Still has wood paneling in one the living rooms, an old kitchen and stuff like that but the property is amazing .
