It's a good thing Inslee is making it a misdemeanor across the state. I was taking my cue from others. If nobody cares, I don't care. If others are concerned I will be concerned for them. I don't care if I wear or don't wear one.
Were they sitting down? Because I’ve been to a few restaurants since reopening and none requires that you keep the mask on at all times, for obvious reasons. Only when you leave the table do you need to put the mask on, which makes perfect sense if the tables are adequately spaced.

We went to Seabolt's Smokehouse. There was only one table of two where both people had masks. Another party of two where one had a mask. All other tables nobody had masks. I had masks with me, but when I saw that the overwhelming majority didn't have them I chose not to bother. This was before Inslee made the statewide mandate.

In China, India and Africa with a total population of 3.7 billion, total Covid deaths are 30,000.

In New York State with a population of 19.5 million, total Covid deaths are 31,000.

I believe the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything is not masks. Rather, it is this: learn a non-European foreign language.

"People are weak and selfish who don't."

Yeah, I just went to Capitol Cider yesterday. They, like every other restaurant I’ve visited, require that you wear a mask when you enter and leave and if you need to use the restroom, but it can be taken off at the table. They actually installed plexiglass panels at the front of each table so there is a barrier between the server and the diners, which I thought was smart. But I get being able to take off the mask at the table. How are you supposed to eat and drink with a mask on? On and off between sips and bites? makes for a rather unenjoyable dining experience.

Masks in restaurants don't make sense. You constantly have to take it off to do something and this is not sanitary because then you will be touching food.

Kind of like the native casinos requiring masks but still willing to sell you drinks. They are just trying to follow the rules but such hypocrisy.

We dined in a restaurant yesterday for the first time in months. Our go-to pho restaurant on Capitol Hill has a relatively large dining room, there was one other table occupied when we arrived. Walk in the door there's a small table with hand sanitizer and a sign requesting payment via payment app to minimize contact (but can still pay traditional methods).

The seated diners with their food were not masked of course, but we kept our masks on as the server directed us to a table far from the occupied table. All the restaurant staff wore masks. The menu was a single printed paper sheet, not their usual laminated booklet, but we already knew our order so didn't need one. We did not remove our masks until our food arrived. The server stood back from the table to take our order, the closest contact we experienced was setting food and drink on the table (naturally).

During our meal several parties arrived to pick up takeout orders, who were met inside the door. A party of three arrived for dine-in and were directed to a table spaced away from both us and the other occupied table, who left shortly after the third party arrived. When finished with our meal, we masked up, paid via PayPal, waved our goodbyes and left.

Yummy, and a welcome change after takeout only for months.
