My parents took Amtrak from Seattle to Oakland a few times. They lived near Sequim and would drive here to our house, and I would drop them at the station on my way to work. Just this weekend my Mom was saying how much she enjoyed traveling on the train. Have you looked at the "Inn at the Market". It may be more expensive, but is located right there at Pike Place Market, 1st and Pine.

I have heard wonderful things about the Inn a the Market. But my finances won't allow for us to stay there this time. I would love to though. Thanks for the tip though about it and the train. This will be our fist time on the Coast Starlight and the California Zephyr. We have ridden the Empire twice to Glacier Park Montana. Fabulous both times.

Thanks.

There are a couple of threads on Cruise Critic that are currently active and discussing the Belltown Inn and that area of Belltown.

Thanks for the Cruise Critic link. I can see how useful that site will be to get useful info for Seattle. I should have gone there sooner since I used them for Alaska cruises.
Thanks for the reminder of the site.

Hammering Man at SAM (confirmed). They could combine it with a visit to the museum - there will be a Monet exhibit there.

Easy things to do/reach: The Market (Lowell's and The Athenian have great views of Elliott Bay), Seattle Art Museum, the Waterfront (Aquarium/Argosy Cruise/Ye Olde Curiosity Shop), Monorail to the Seattle Center (Space Needle, Chihuly Garden of Glass, MoPop). For discounts, see: https://www.citypass.com/seattle

Thanks for the great ideas. We will have to see how much we can get in. Seattle is a great town for visitors or residents .
