“The Fourth of July is traditionally accompanied by fireworks shows, outdoor barbecues, picnics and water sports — activities that were on hold during the pandemic. With the state set to reopen by June 30, many organizers of Independence Day celebrations have planned in-person events. Here’s a list of the Puget Sound area’s traditional activities and their updated celebration status, organized by city.

Please note that this list is not exhaustive. If you do not see your city or an event on this list, check their websites to see if they plan to host any Fourth of July events”.

Really disappointed that there won't be fireworks on Lake Union, again. My second year here and I still haven't had the opportunity to see that, which I heard is cool. Especially since aren't we supposed to be fully back open now?

They need time to organize such events. Leavenworth canceled their Oktoberfest a few months ago because of uncertainty.

A few friends and I watched the Bellevue ones. I figured there would be nowhere to park actually in Bellevue, so we went to a secluded beach on Mercer Island for a view of them. It was just us and like three other people, pretty relaxing.

Our neighborhood holds a pretty decently sized festival each summer and it was cancelled back in February. I imagine for a firework show for a large city that the final decision would have needed to be done back around that time.

Also... even though we are "open" now things haven't changed at all around here. Fast food still drive thru only. Our Ladro coffee shop still limits patrons to 5 at a time in line and only like 2 tables with only 2 chairs at each.

Even outside there are still restrictions... my son has a soccer tournament in Redmond this weekend and the teams are allowed a bench, but not a canopy. Big open fields outdoors. Watch out for that Covid!

This is the problem with the Lake Union fireworks shows; the best viewing locations are impossibly crowded, with traffic backed up for blocks. Gasworks Park, for example. Some of the best viewing can be from home, on one's rooftop, depending on location.
