I have seen that many times, but even 5-6 years ago. There are some homeless and others that like to intimidate passersby, but always have been. It's just a matter of where you are and when. Most of that was 6-7am around Westlake and the Market and on Pine near McDonalds/3rd in the afternoon. You just learn to avoid those areas, and sometimes those actors move to different locations.

Yes, aggressive panhandling has been around for a long time. I used to experience some of that just catching a bus from downtown several decades ago.

There's a lot of unstably housed folks here. Relative to other cities? I have no idea. I don't live in those cities.

King County has been buying a lot of hotels recently. Glad to see some actual money being put into real living units instead of just soft/human services.

The one time that I was in Seattle I didn’t notice it but I was only at the waterfront area.
The same could be said for San Francisco.
There are nice clean areas and then there are the filthy areas.

It’s kinda funny how things are tolerated in certain areas of a city but not other areas of the same city.
Money buys protection and police services apparently.

There’s a video by KOMO News (Seattle news station) “Seattle Is Dying”

Have a gander at that.

Too late, Seattle is way beyond what is seen in "Seattle Is Dying". Its spreading to the suburbs in all 4 directions around Seattle. SPD is so understaffed from the "summer of love" they're not able to do anything now beyond some serious violent incident. Now with the new initiatives passed by the state legislators the police's hands are tied even more, even if you see the guy with your stolen stuff bike by the crime scene and point them out to the cops (if they are there), the cops can't do anything about it. That is where Seattle is now.

Yet apparently the residents like it this way, as yesterday's election results will show.

I've not seen them spread to the Eastside. I once saw a tent at the 405/90 exchange a few years ago and it was removed within days. We did have a tent camp in Issaquah. I think it was relocated. Was never a burden for the community like in Seattle.

We do have some homeless or drug addicted people walking around and there is currently this overweight lady driving a converted white bus around Issaquah. I think her bus is standard size of 30 ft. If so the police can ask her to move every 6 hours and in fact I've seen her move the bus because of police.

Be truthful. People are afraid of the homeless and crime including murders are part of the issue. 6 people were killed in Seattle two weeks ago prompting the Mayor to request more police after the city council defunded them.

Here is that action.

Seattle San Francisco and Portland have been overrun by crime. At least...be honest about it.

I have lived here since 2018. Was through capital hill 2 weeks ago. 2-3 square blocks had resemblance to the nastiness that went on months ago. But after that it was sweet!!!
