Have vaccines disappeared or something? People still act as if we are still in March 2020 and there is no protection against covid.

Until people get serious about fighting Covid, smart folks are working harder to keep themselves safe and keep Covid numbers down. That’s their right.

People were very serious about fighting covid until many (and many more daily) realized practically nothing changes no matter what happens.

For myself, my co-workers, and neighbors that have been working from home, it's not fear of Covid that is driving the desire to keep working from home, it's the extra 1-2 hours a day not being spent every day commuting to the office. Even the 4 people I work with that live in Seattle take 25 minutes to get to the office, just 5-6 miles away in the same city. For me it's 23 miles, and takes 35 minutes in the early morning, 50 coming home in the afternoon.

True. The 35-40 minutes it takes to commute each way is a major drag. Less so if by bus, since one can multitask.

As someone who used to work from home for 5 years, a decade ago, at some point, you realize that you are missing out on a lot by not being in an office. But connectivity has improved by leaps and bounds so I’m interested to see if that remains the case.

In early 2020, we took appropriate precautions and still did our 3-4 weekly walks in the local parks and streets. In the 24 months with Covid, we have achieve a understanding of its spread, a vaccine that is somewhat protective and lessens the severity of the illness, development new vaccines; Couping techniques;
Who knows, Mankind may die because of the smallest and simplest of organisms could not be defeated. Just as in, HG Wells ', War of the Worlds.

We still take reasonable precautions, like masks in populations, minimizing time in enclosed spaces, avoiding unventilated spaces. We are not fatalists.

Good for you. Protect yourself and others even if the masks do not stop it, they do reduce the spread and make others feel safer when in a store with you.
