45% Sad. That means 55% aren't sad, a few of whom might be happy and some just neutral. I'm guessing many of the 55% are neither happy nor sad and just seeking more caffeine to wake up fully.

When we told one of our friends (a retired fire captain) that we bought a place up north he warned us of this.
He went on to mention the very high numbers of suicides that peaked during the holidays.

What a bunch of bs. Please stop these bogus surveys. Happiness is personal, internal. and private. How any government can rank this is impossible and thoroughly unscientific. Just leave us alone! It I guess their real goal is to get us to use more social systems that are really not necessary for most. This is a step toward socialism which is not right step.

I'm moving to Chula Vista, CA when I can.

Cause winter and the darkness is really too long up here. The funeral weather can last for weeks and weeks too.

I think the link is def on to something.

This is anecdotal on my part also but I was in LA with a colleague and I told him I was from Seattle and he replied to paraphrase...."yeah, I worked with a lot of people from up there....they seem down...something is wrong with them."

We enjoy the weather here, and we are in Sammamish where we get 54" of rain. Seattle only gets 37", and in fact, that is less than many other major cities such as New Orleans (86"), Miami (67"), Nashville (63"), and New York City (62"). Even Crescent City California gets 79". Working in Seattle myself, I would consider a lot of the sadness to be from tripping over the homeless people living on the sidewalks, in the parks and under the freeway every day.

If you live in the PNW you have to supplement with Vitamin-D3 regularly, and Vitamin-K2 because it helps the body to properly absorb Vitamin-D. The PNW climate does not make people depressed, it's their vitamin deficiencies that make them depressed and it's easily treatable.

The last completely Sunny day was Jan. 14th . The day of the Hawks 49ers wild card game.

Yet we have seen the sun at least for an hour or two every day this last week, despite snow, rain and wind. In fact both days I worked in the office this week I had to lower the blinds to keep the sun out of my eyes for much of the days.
