Hi all,

I just moved to Seattle a couple weeks ago. I'm 21 and just graduated from college.

Here's my question:

How should I go meeting new people, and in particular girls? I'm sure I'll meet plenty of people at work, but I want to be able to have friends that are around my age and not necessarily work acquaintances.

Right now, I'm temporarily staying in the U District for a couple months while I get acclimated to Seattle. But the only people I've manage to befriend are my roommates. And it seems hard meeting new people that might be UW students.

Also, is there a particular neighborhood I should consider living in to meet young people that are in my age range (18-23). I'm currently looking at University District, Capitol Hill, and Bellevue as potential places to live on a permanent basis. Is one of these a clearly better choice for my future social life?

Thanks

I would say stay by UW. More people your age there and easier to meet.

Move to Capital Hill. It's a great place for young singles, out of school.

I've heard though that Capitol Hill has slightly "older" young people, in the 25-35 age range. Is that correct?

Capitol Hill generally does not see a lot of teenagers nor senior citizens. My experience is that folks anywhere in between make a life they enjoy there.

perhaps all the new comers should get together and form a clique of sorts Oh but I'm 26 so I guess I am getting on there now. Good luck to both of us, hey?

Just post an ad in the "casual encounters" section of Craigslist. You'll meet all sorts of new friends.

Seriously, though, take advantage of those work relationships. Go hang out after work on Friday. Have lunch with them. Catch a movie or something with some of the guys. They all know people outside the office. Some have wives that have friends that are single.

You work in a company with a lot of people that are new to the area, and they are looking for social connections as well.
