I see only "sun breaks", that pathetic term that makes all Seattlites look like junkies.

I also see toughguy telling me I'm depressing in the not-too-distant future.

I'm in class, and I bet a good number of us are at work. Plus, I see nothing but grayish-blackish-white out the window. So my question is "what sunshine?"

Well, Seattle does seem to have several different microclimates. It can be overcast and gray in my neighborhood, but if I drive four or five miles south suddenly it is sunny. Our cherry blossoms don't show up until a couple of weeks after the UWs and it is just three miles south. It is definitely gray with a few short sunbreaks here in Northeast Seattle right now.

I am about 350 feet up in downtown Seattle, at work myself. It looks pretty sunny out there to me right now. I can see the sunlight shimmering off the Blue Angels as they flash by. It is has been alternating sunny/cloudy since I got in at 8:00. I don't see any grey, just high, white stratus clouds.

I think the question you need to ask yourself is..why are you considering moving somewhere that'll take anti-depressants to survive there?

We had no idea until we got here how much we'd hate the weather here. Being that we are only here for 4 years, anything can be handled knowing there is an end. If you are making this a perm. move, then re-ask why move somewhere that you need drugs to survive. GL with your choice.

Also think about this... if you leave the area you are in now, and hate Seattle - and have decided to move back in 2 yrs... would you be priced out? Could you just pack up and make a major move like that so soon?

Moving out of Seattle (and selling our home, and buying one on the other end of the move and getting the kids in school - etc) was a huge undertaking. We didn't really look at is as.... well, we could always move back....

I think your husband has put in the clause of "we can always move back" to passify you - but do you think there is true ability and intention to just turn around and move back?? I am sure he is hoping you will fall in love with the place...

Trust your gut, good luck.
