Does anyone have pic's?
I'm trying to figure out the difference between the two.
I know that the wolf spider is a beneficial, and will kill the recluse....I don't want to kill them.
I need to "see" the difference between the two.

Thanks so much
RainSpirit

I Googled photo wolf spider and photo recluse spider, and the very first references for both were four photos. Have you tried that?

Try this link if you haven't already Spider Identification Chart - Venomous or Dangerous? As you can see it's tough finding pictures of certain animals that match up to the way they look in the wild. In general, the wolf spider is bulkier, thicker, as the pics show. You don't have brown recluse spiders in WA. Having said that, certain creatures make they're way into trucks/airplanes, etc and end up miles outside their range, but the chances of you running into a recluse in WA are quite slim. Wolf spiders are found all over the world and are generally harmless, just short of giving you an itchy welt if bitten. Even the recluse, with it's exaggerate bad reputation, would only be dangerous to a very small child who does not receive medical attention after a bite. Hope this helps.

one of the most common spiders here is the giant house spider. A lot of people call those wolf spiders. They get frickin' hoooge, and you'll know one when you see one. Scary big, moves as fast as lightning.

I frigging hate those things. I've mainly seen them in houses south of the Everett area. Maybe they just like older homes or something.
