As a card carrying liberal let me throw this out there. Portland is even more liberal than Seattle. And by a fair amount in my view. You may want to keep that in mind. It's a GREAT place to live.

And hey, to be fair, all the great cities in America are liberal. That's just a fact, no puffery needed.

The liberal mindset in Seattle, tends to fade gradually as you push further away from downtown as you'd expect. Although where there's money, there are conservatives. So if you're at UW, you could always bring your millions with you and live in one of the higher end neighborhoods where conservatives still actually exist. (We try to keep them caged in) Broadmoor, Magnolia, Blue Ridge, parts of Capitol Hill Etc...There are several really nice areas where you'll find folks to commiserate with.

You'd be wise not to display anti Obama bumper stickers or lawn signs. Those don't seem to help with one's popularity in these parts.

And to be fair, I enjoy a good repartee with intelligent conservatives. It's just that they're as rare as hen's teeth you know.

Good luck.

It's not true that all coastal cities are liberal. San Diego is fairly conservative, one of the few conservative strongholds as far as big cities go

I said nothing about coastal cities. I said great cities. I consider San Diego to be an incredible place. (read beaches) But as a city, it's not all that great. Although La Jolla is pretty cool.

I question whether Washington is bad relative to the 49 other states regarding taxes. According to news reports, we're somewhere in the 30's:

You didn't - but I was referring to the OP:

Let's be straight about this question. Seattle and the surrounding area of Puget Sound is extremely liberal, on a par with San Francisco! I have had dealings with the city and state governments and can cite specific instances of corruption. If you are conservative you will be in the vast minority. Your viewpoints will be met with chastisement or ignored. I advise against putting any conservative stickers on your vehicle, as it will invite vandalism. Same for conservative yard signs. I lived there for 30 years and learned the only way to get along is to be non-political. For a political example.. look at the two Washington State Senators.

Fortunately corruption in politics is strictly a liberal issue.

This is some kind of funny.
