I live outside seattle city limits but still seattle. Its border line burien. I keep finding things that say its illegal to lite of fireworks then other things say its ok. Does any one really know? I have looked on the king county site and they say illegal in seattle. But they sell fireworks outside the a casino here. Everyone lit them off all over around here last year. Was this illegal? I found the zone I live in R6 all it says about that is its outside the city limits nothing specific.

You live in unincorporated King County. Fireworks regulations and safety

Fourth of July holiday

In unincorporated King County:
  • Fireworks may be discharged only on July 4 from 9 a.m. to midnight.
  • Fireworks sales are legal beginning at noon on June 28 until 11 p.m. and then daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. through July 4. No sales can occur after July 4.
  • To purchase fireworks you must be at least 16 years of age with picture identification.
  • See the Fireworks permit: Application for temporary stand / tent form in fill-in Word (63KB) or PDF (29KB) format.

Easiest answer ... save your money and go to one of the big shows. Too many houses burn due to people shooting off fireworks.

Especially if you live in an apartment in Burien.

Within the city limits of Burien it is illegal to purchase, own, transport or discharge fireworks. The prohibition on fireworks resulted from a vote of the people. Personal fireworks are dangerous and stupid. Watch it on TV.

I take a trip to Poulsbo area each mid-June to stock up on fireworks (bottle rockets, black cats, mortars, etc.) - and then shoot them off with friends in my Fremont neighborhood on the 4th. Is it legal? Probably not. Is it a whole lot of fun? Hell. Yes.

We did sparklers when I was a child. We lived in rural SW Washington and read about the woodland fires the next day. No way was my dollar conscious mother going to throw food money away on expensive stuff you just burn up.

When you or someone else is injured, or you get a citation from the police, or your property burns -- it won't be so fun. Disobeying the "small laws" makes it so much easier to disobey the big ones.

60% of Seattle residents are renters; 60% of Burien residents are homeowners.

We may not be rich but we have our own land.

Actually Burien's a really cool place. Kind of like the Ballard of the South. Nice views, Puget Sound, and Old Burien downtown has all kinds of great places to eat and drink. But not to shoot fireworks in.
The unincorporated areas of King County do allow fireworks on July 4th, but there was a proposal to allow the citizens of each fire district to vote on it. The KC council chose to not vote on that, so the issue is dead for the time being, but active citizens in both the North Highline ( near Burien and Seattle) and West Hill ( near Renton and Seattle) unincorporated areas are still trying to get that passed.
