Taking a job with Amazon in seattle and don't have a clue where to look for an apartment or townhouse. 30 years old, single living in a 550 sq.ft. co-op in manhattan now. i'm a marathon runner and what i miss most is having access to the outdoors. i'd like some outside space of my own - even a balcony or patio would do. i don't have a car, but plan to buy one although i'd still like to be able to walk to shopping, groceries, drugstore, etc. does this sound like any particular neighborhood(s)?

Try The Cobb (has a roof top terrace with nice view of Puget Sound and the downtown) or Harbor Steps (has apartments with balconies) It's in the downtown proper within walking distance to everything. If you are working at the Amazon offices in the international district then you can walk there and just a short bus ride if you will be working at their main office location. Lot's of places to go running nearby (e.g the Waterfront).
