This is going to sound weird, but I'm having a really hard time finding whole milk, or even 2% yogurt for my son. He had milk intolerances as a baby, and as a result, won't drink milk now (he's not used to the taste, he's only 23 months old), so my doctor recommended getting the highest fat content yogurt possible for him. However, in WA I haven't found any yogurt above 1 1/2% milk fat. I don't eat yogurt myself, so I never noticed a difference in the yogurt aisles between WA and CA, but I was just in CA for a visit, and they seem to offer twice as many kinds of yogurt there (including 2% and whole milk). I've tried Fred Meyer, QFC, and Safeway, does anyone know if maybe Trader Joe's or Whole Foods have a wider variety?? Thanks!

V. =)

Trader Joe's carries YoBaby which is whole milk but that is a brand that is typically everywhere. Have you tried it? Also, would you consider doing greek yogurt sweetened with agave nectar? You can get greek at TJ's also (Fage brand is my favorite) in whole, 2% and 0%. Whole Foods will probably have one of the widest varieties of the better yogurt as would PCC in Issaquah.

I was also going to suggest PCC in Issaquah. Huge selection of yogurt, including full fat.

Doesn't your QFC have that full fat Yami? It tastes like creamsicles. Way too rich for me, but your son might like it.

We were at that PCC this weekend, after having not been there for a while. There were quite a few empty shelves, due to the big remodel going on. They seemed to have all the usual products though - just in different places. We didn't look for dairy stuff, though.

Cascade Fresh is a local brand that includes whole milk offerings. I know I've seen it at PCC in the past.

Thanks, everyone! He's sort of graduated past the YoBaby stage. He was loving the Fage he had in SoCal, so I will hit up Trader Joe's for some of that! I just didn't want to make the extra trip in vain (it's hard to lug around two babies!).

Thanks again!!

I get this for my 2 year old:
Mountain High Yoghurt, Plain, 32 oz | AmazonFresh

He has never cared whether it has any flavor in it, so I get him plain - no sugar. But they do make it full-strength in vanilla. I have seen it at QFC as well.

The ingredients list cultured pasteurized milk and nonfat milk both, but it has 8g fat vs 2.5g per serving in the lowfat version, so I think it's mostly whole milk.

The daycare serves aspartame peach yogurt, but I think this is probably better for him, so I send this yogurt. He loves it. He's a picky eater and definitely on the skinny side. If he starts to actually like the taste of fruit and demand sweeter yogurt, the plan is to blend up some fruits with the plain yogurt. (That'll be the day. Fresh fruit? Hah! ).
