I don't mean to be argumentative but technically, there are no true preexisting injuries. All injuries heal. You may suffer some pain from past serious injuries, but they all heal. Perhaps someone gave you some wrong information in the past. A new back injury may aggravate an old back injury, but everything else would be covered. If you can do the work, you will be hired - or avoid jobs that supply Health Ins. Other job, unless they entail heavy lifting, will not ask about your back.

After you do 20 or so, and find you never hear back about any. It is telling.
But telling what? Remember that your physical appearance, manner, apparent intelligence, work experience and educational background and other things are taken into consideration. They're even more important than an ancient injury. You say you're 61. You can sign up for SS when you're 62. At 65 you will get Medicare. At 61 it hardly pays to start looking for a full time job, or even a part time job.

Quote:
At this point I am now 61.... I have done alright i guess, but that depends on how you measure things or a man.
Next year you can get SS. That will help you financially. Your wife, at 62 can also sign up. That steady income may help you find a permanent place to live, be it in a shack, a cabin or in your van.

The very best way to get me to do the impossible with nothing is to tell me I can't.

The point on fixing my back is that I am angry about my back, the state of NH, and the recent election, not to mention the bail out for AIG. The lawyers at AIG had some very insulting words for me once, and so they get BAILED OUT? These lawyers are far worse than I ever was.
Worse than you? At what" AIG? I have no idea what that is since I'm not from NH.

I know how this failed system works and most of the time I am fairly glad I have fallen thru the cracks.
I guess I don't understand.... wasn't your back injury treated at the time? How can you be taken to the hosp and not have a spinal specialist treat you? Even if you had no Ins they have to take care of you. They would just ship you to a county or city Hosp where the poor and welfare people go.

Of course everyone who knows of me on CD knows I am conservative and fairly independent, but even there in my past, when I got any help I didn't ever ask for, it was never from liberals. Only others more like me all of a conservative mind set.
I'm not very "political" so wouldn't know a conservative from a liberal.

And back to my back. NH elected some very big spenders and so if they want to spend so badly, then let a part of it be on me. I expect to be late to my death bed because i will be working.... I could do more, earn more, and help others better if I was freer to be....
How can they help you now even if they wanted to?

Oh I didn't know herniated disks and fragged disks healed or grew back. That's what I was slated to have, 3 screws and a cage installed in my spine for.

That would have happened until another doctor began a discussion about new shark cartilage , which was NEW at that time.

Since then I have never had a pain free day yet, but some days are a lot better than others.

A few nights were spent in so much pain sleeping was out of the question. It's a good thing there are ceilings to stare at. And that was with some fairly heavy duty pain killers which I try hard to avoid.

I can still feel what I think is bone grating on bone....

I know broken bones heal with out doctors so long as it is a simple break. I have broken ribs rather a lot and any time I happen to get a chest x ray I can count on the techs getting a laff..

Last year I broke my pinky finger and maybe the bone on other side in my hand but That was a easy fix too with no doctors.

I lost a battle with a steel plate that weighed 54 pounds and was stuck.

AIG is a Insurance Company that used fancy lawyers to cheat me out of back surgery and called me a malingerer. After all these years I still recall the name of the guy that said that about me in the labor tribunal. Had it not been for that doctor talking about shark cartilage, I probably would have the screws and the cage at least.

And now with the big spenders running things i am going after that shark cartilage, which at this point is better than screws and cages.

And getting back to AIG, they were To Big to Fail...... talk about malingerers. There was nothing wrong with them, other than they didn't do enough work to stay alive, and so We, you and even me had to bail out AIG. After the way i was treated I would have enjoyed watching that FALL.

That left me with choices as Quit living life, or live life in pain and still get things done no matter what.

Of course i chose the latter. I told you what doesn't kill me, just makes me stronger. But then there are weeks and months where I am kinda downed and outted, and I don't always say until a time like that has past. Which one is passing that began in August.

All I was doping was sweeping a bit of sand off the pavement so a dolly would roll better, and that was all it took that day and until about last Saturday it took a few hours to just stand up straight.

Even now when I walk it looks like a swagger, since my hips don't roll like a normal persons would. The right hip won't roll back past half way.

Getting jobs for me used to be for the asking... A shop manager would hand over a set of keys to some car in the lots belonging to a customer, and tell me to go take a test drive and come back to tell every last item wrong with that car.

Every last detail. Once I did i was told to get on fixing which ever items were authorized by the customer.

After many years of that sort of work it gets so one can look at most anything and know how it works and be able to take it apart and put it all back, and or have parts come in several boxes all mixed up like a 356 Porsche did once.

There were pistons and door trim in one box, pistons and rear bumper parts in another, connecting rods and ft bumper parts in another and so on, a great big puzzle.

Not many techs want a job like that because parts are delicate and can be damaged or missing. I built that car back in a few months time and the whole thing was painted.

I am no gun smith, but once a guy who knew i could sort out parts of things brought me a Winchester Model 100 which is a semi auto rifle shooting a 30-06 round. This was in individual parts too, odd shapes, cams, springs, and levers, which all machines are made of.

This time just to make it interesting there were parts of more than one other gun in these boxes. Some parts were easy to tell they did not belong since they were from a old musket probably some time around the Civil War.

That rifle took me about a week in my evening spare time to sort out. This was pre computer, so by the time a sheet of paper came on the mail showing a exploded diagram it was just good for making sure I made no mistakes.

Nope by the law anyone who might have hired me would just look at the injury and toss the app in the trash.. Can't buy jobs for love or money ya know?

I could go on and on, as I have worked with wood and engines for old Classic lake boats, and any thing else i can privately contract for.

The hard part is finding more work before you get done with the job.... And getting word out you are available. This always ends up as Feast or Famine.

Just like now.... The machine that is here, isn't really here. it's down at the Powder coater's getting painted. I have 0 income until I get that frame back. No matter I can go change the oil on the truck today and get other basic chores done.

And last........ Non idea what job will come after this one leaves..... I hope something turns up....

If you do not declare all previous injuries then ins. company will say you got coverage under false pretenses(fraud), lose all coverage, if discovered by ins. co., and they will search if you have a major claim, also they keep all premiums paid. Most health ins. does not cover cancer nor other catastrophic disease, unless you have a rider policy(more money). My Dad was an insurance salesman.

Good grief! Go ahead and take the pain killer. There is no use in suffering.

Whatever.... I hope you get this resolved. Living with pain can really put a damper on life. My spouse has Fibromyalgia. If he couldn't get pain killers to ease the pain, he would have no quality of life.

Understandable. How can people reach you if you don't have a phone or permanent address? Wouldn't those things lose you a lot of business? Are you able to have a phone, something like Verizon's wireless home phone? We take it everywhere with us, even now that we're both retired.

Gotcha. I understand.

read back a bit. Skills Sets...

I'm failing to see where any of that has anything whatsoever to do with putting private information on job applications...

That's to get insurance, not a job.

CAT, I don't do drugs, I just don;t like the way they make me feel all stupid and dopey..... Just don't want to live that way..

And if I did I couldn't work on the machines I earn a living still to work on. I live in a house, my wife has a cell phone. We rent, and i have access to a barn, a large garden area I made, and can store my tools and junk in the house, barn and a large shed, and the owner is a Electrical engineer and full blown machinist.

I do all his property management from building stone walls in the lanai, to replacing any doors and windows he wants, to painting, and maint on his 2 trucks and the Bob Cat (skid steer), plus I cut and split his wood in trade for living here.

Today I did a front end alignment on one of his trucks. Old rusty Toyota beater but it runs good.

At some risk to being far off topic:

Art not a photo my wife can do......

Garden Before

Garden after, and I MADE that soil myself

One more for grins

lanai
Before

After

Fire place and moss ground cover I harvested from the woods

With pretty much just me, 1 little guy doing this stuff it takes a long time........ My wife is better than Dumb Bull Labor, and i let machines do a lot of mine too.

I do this sort of thing too

This is real silver and of museum quality from a time long forgotten the American Fur Trade and this stuff is called Trade Silver and it was money during the Fur trade.

I don't do this any more so I can place in a link since i am just showing some skill sets.
silverwork Photos by Mac_Muz | Photobucket

This is a knife detail and why I like making knives sometimes.

This was a common file made to file other metals too, and the sheperds hook was made from the file's tang which I moved over and made the hook of. The wood is common maple from a sliver of fire wood.

I don't use imported exotic wood from any place but in NH.

I do all my own heat treating too. Can't show that but I could tell you how....

From blankets, cloth, glass, stone, metal, wood, and silver, I made every items you see here by hand too......

counting the arrow heads.

No I don't have any skills hobbies or interests what so ever! I am a dolt

Mac, there are painkillers today that don't make you dopey and sleepy and prevent what you can do. They've come a long way since your injury. And you can only take them when your back is bothering you, unlike someone with Fibromyalgia.

The cat pic is nice enough. She needs to advertise online. People can send her pics of their cats and she can do them at home. You made a beautiful garden and sitting area.

Once this place was a Fair Ground, that went out of business in 1930. 3/4ers of the drive way is a 1 mile oval horse race track. You can see the last 1/4er as a walking path in the garden picture with the truck parked in the distance to the right of the truck. The road shows as a dark area with no trees in it.
A few winters in the past out walking, choosing sugar maple trees to tap I came on this little moose

Because of the clear cutting for the fair ground long ago, several hundred feet, FEET, away over the property line is a pine barren. Only White Pine and swamp birch grow there now ans the Pine are no longer doing well, which is a good thing.

Nature is reclaiming the forest to be what it was before man fooled with it.

While this tree is dead, it still seems quaint, and in more time other life will spring forth from it.
