Everyone overlooked a huge threat that may be starting to happen. The South Pole could become the magnetic pole. The magnetic pole shifts from north to south then back to north periodically. The process could take years. It would be extremely messy.

It is.............wait for it...............overdue. Every mega disaster is somehow overdue.

NOVA put together a good program about this. I bought it on DVD. I dig the heady, serious stuff like that.

There is disaster then there is disaster.

I feel that I already suck at prepping for a regional event that may actually occur, so there is no sense in prepping for a cataclysmic extinction-level disaster. I have no chance....

^^^ Well, if you are in Manhattan then yes, you are probably toast. So now might be a good time to start working toward living elsewhere or else having enough money to get out of the city.

I don't think it really matters where the magnetic pole is, other than everyone's compass will be off. The pole changes a little every year and yes, eventually it will end up reversing, but its unlikely mankind will still be around by then anyway.

Could mess up pilots though if they didn't keep up with their compass. "Ladies and gentlemen we will be landing in Seattle shortly, opps, I mean Atlanta..."

When this game of "musical chairs" stops, a whole lot of people are going to find themselves squatting on the floor... dead broke.

Yes!

Then throw in the possibility of a pandemic, long-lasting bank holiday, civil war on the streets, martial law, hacking of the electrical grid, or a dozen different other possibilities, and the weather preppers (which was my term, by the way - I invented it! ) will find themselves short after their 72-hour kit runs out.

FEMA anyone?
