Over the years I have carried an assortment of knives.
For years I carried a Swiss army knife in my pocket, I remember they always wore a hole through my jeans.
Then I shifted to carrying a sheath knife, one time down in Virginia I was arrested for carrying a sheath knife. I went to court and had to pay a fine.
Then I carried a leatherman tool for a long time.
Now I have these razor blade folding knives. When the blade gets dull or a nick in it, the blade is easy to replace. Replacement blades come in packs of 100. So I always have an extremely sharp knife.
I carry a small, generic multi-tool. It has a knife suitable for cutting the bands off the copy paper boxes and plyers sturdy enough to pry open plug covers. I use it all the time at work. The knife blade is less than an inch long.
The new manager has been talking about banning all knives, even a tiny one like mine. I said I'd resign if things got that stupid.

No pocket knifes on me but I keep a small Gerber in my purse and a larger Gerber and a snap knife in my car console. I also keep a snap knife in the kitchen and another in my gardening tool bucket.
Please elaborate. How is not having one of the most useful tools that ever existed, on you, smart prep? You are correct that the most important thing is knowledge, but with knowledge should come the understanding that having a knife is smart prep. Maybe your answer will have something to do with the fact that you refer to a knife (excluding the gun for my question) as a "weapon". Of course a knife can be a weapon, but it can also be a simple multi-functional tool. Even one of those tiny Swiss Army knives can be extremely handy on many an occasion.
Exactly, that is why I stated that it can be used as both a tool and for self defense.
Aussie accent: "Dats not ah naaf. Dats a NAAAAFF!" lol
I don't know if a pocket knife can be useful for self defense. I carry a swiss army knife that I use a lot at work and home: screw driver, phillips screw driver, bottle cap opener, awl, can opener, and serrated knife.

Sounds like you mean a box cutter utility knife like this. Am i right?
I think that back a number of decades ago carrying a pocket knife was very common for a lot of men, as common as carrying a wallet. They were also common gifts to give a guy a nice pocket knife. Not so much anymore. I used to carry a full sized Swiss army knife in my purse. I have switched to a mini one. The scissors have come in handy a number of times.
