Well they had a sale where the boxsprings were free.( at HHgregs) Also the pillows were free and they are usually $80.00.
So I had my first night in the Serta Comfort ...iCool. It is a heavy mattress we could hardly lift it to put the extenders on the legs. The bed looks great up on short extenders for height.
I did ok. I am surprised that it is such a different feel. Actually, I should have known it would be. It does pay to read up on the layers. It is very interesting indeed.
I found myself late in the night too close to the edge. In that case I made a sink spot and felt like I was in a nest! Pretty much curled up into it. Not a good idea. Although with the two pups in the bed I tend to stay close to the edge. I'll learn not to do that or be on the floor.
I chose this bed because of tender points on my body. I am hoping it comforts them, rather then be a hard mattress and push on them.
The pillow is a dream. They make them from the same mattress design. It comes from the left over pieces of making the mattress. So it is soft and so very comforting.
If we can get a better sleep then it is worth the extra. The other mattress that had the cooling a bit deeper in was an option and was very comfortable but not much cheaper as you'd have to pay for the pillows. I had actually felt better in that pillowtop for some reason. But hubby liked the other one and I figured it is getting great reviews.
I think I will be fine as I get use to it. I don't see how even arthritis can hurt when being sunk down into that wonderful gel. 25 year warrenty.

Congratulations. It will take a few days to get used to it. It forms to your whole body to give you even weight distribution. I have severe arthristis and this the i-Comfort Genius Queen has been the best fit/rest for me period.

nitram... If you have not, you need to buy those pillows. I have never in my life had a better pillow. Expensive, yes...but the pillows are so perfect. Because they are made of the same gels and inner workings of the mattress.
( I'm overly lucky to have gotten them for free.) I'd wait for a sale though ( $80.00 is really too high)
I got the i-Comfort Savant ( formerly Regency) in a King because once you have a King you can't get use to anything else. Plus, I have two little pups that sleep soundly with us. I'm pretty darn sure they love that new bed too.
Thats what we are thinking, that it will take a few days to get use to this feel. Its hard to explain how different ones body feels in it. It is like sleeping in a gel. I know my brain will accept this new idea soon. It surely is comfortable and I am sleeping well.

Thanks, we did get those pillows free when we purchased our mattress. Probably the same deal as you did. Yes they are great.

Ok, well its been a few days. I am still getting use to it, but I think it really helps not put pressure on the trigger points.
Thats a good thing. I was thinking last night what the bed felt like. I have come up with its like sleeping on soft clay or silly puddy. That is what makes for the "getting use to" and the " different feel."
If I would only not sleep on the edge.
Its not hot in this bed and I have heard that about the competition. That iCool must be working.
I think I am going to love this bed and I have been sleeping quite well.
My dogs adored it from day one. LOL...They are truely comfortable and don't head for their dog beds at all.
Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Ok well an update is due. The mattress is going back tomorrow. I can't say it was totally uncomfortable as it does hug around your body and feels good. However, I toss and turn a ton of times and I have managed to make too much of a sink spot. My thought was if it is this deep now what will the future hold. So the wonderful HHgreg has helped me to exchange it with no issues at all. They seemed to understand my plight.
I am getting the other Serta that does have a spring area to it. It also has a pillow top which should feel great. I'm hoping for the best. This does seem more like what we are use to. Hoping it lasts for many, many, years...

So sorry that didn't work out for you. We just returned from several months on the road and visiting and sleeping on various beds, most being uncomfortable and now that we're back home we're enjoying the best sleep of our lives on our Serta i-comfort.

Summering - rule of thumb ( and that works for most people ) is a HARD mattress. Preferable made of natural latex, horsehair, wool, seaweed or coconut. Those breath well, don't get hot or cold at night, are elastic but don't sink with the time, and are naturally antibacterial/allergic. Absolutely best on the market.
I have mine 20+ years and there is not a slightest dip in it.

A hard mattress is maybe not very pleasant to touch, and maybe not even so great to lie on till you fall asleep - although you get used to it very fast, but you will get up in the morning pain free. Mine is so hard, that I could say I almost sleep on bare floor, but boy, I feel just wonderful in the morning - relaxed and invigorated, and ready to sit long hours in my office.

Get as firm a mattress as possible and add a soft LATEX topper to it. You can thank me later.
