Ebay is really easy to do. I never sold anything on there but I listed an item for my Mother-in-law (it didn't sell)
It's not free but I remember it depended on how much you listed or sold the item for. I think it cost her less than a dollar to list it.
Ebay's may be easy enough but....
It's about a dollar for 7 days, plus the cost of any additional pictures... and then if you want bigger pictures... it's more.
And, if it doesn't sell in 7 days, it's another dollar... plus the amount for each additional pictures...
So, like your mother-in-law's thing didn't sell and you didn't relist it apparently. But, if you want to sell something and you have to keep paying every week, it adds up quickly!

Craigsliat is a great platform for selling stuff. I can recommand an automatic tool than can list products on the largest 17 shopping engines..I'm using it for selling products
A new website has been created by Tramp magazine named DIOSCURI and will be stocking brands and products from different designers or fashion houses. I think they will advertise DIOSCURI heavily in their magazine as the new fashion section I was told which means people or business who have there products listed will benefit hugely.
Most newspapers have cheap or free classifieds for some items, many people still read the paper. Most local print newspapers and weekly magazines also have online classifieds availible, but if your area Craigslist is slow, they wont be any faster.
have you tried oceanbay.com ? its free to sell and buy on like craigslist but with the features and look of ebay u should check it out
