when you have been out shopping or anything like that , what is the most you have spent (can include houses , cars etc.

for me - paid £200 for my Laptop.

There is no real debate here I don't think: for anyone who has owned a home, it would have to be that unless they purchased it back with you could buy one for $20,000. If that is the case, a car would be next. For us, definitely it was our house., but the way you are wording it, I was thinking more like, electronics etc. Something you might buy while out shopping. I don't think of cars and homes as something you just pick up on a Saturday afternoon shopping excursion.

Now on a shopping excursion day, I would say our new kitchen appliances. When we remodeled last January we bought our range, fridge and dish washer at the same place: total cost was about $3,500.
