Recently, I have noticed that Youtube has a number of "Unboxing" videos. This came to my attention when I gifted my son a years supply of lootcrates. He told me that often, people will record the opening of the boxes and post them online. For anyone unfamilair with lootcrates, they are one of seemingly hundreds of monthly boxes which arrive with different items inside. The recipient then opens the box to find 5 to 7 items, including action figures, T Shirts, jewelry, posters etc all centered around a theme, such as Science fiction or comic books. A new and different box arrives each month.
SO I am watching online, and realizing that there is a big market perhaps for MYSTERY BOXES
Mystery boxes are sold on EBay,as well as Yugley, and yes, people seem to buy them juding from the number of sold listings.
What people (or companies) do is pack all the junk they did not sell or did not want and instead of shipping them to goodwill, they get shipped to the home of the highest bidder. Some are just plain garbage...one girl got a busted cellphone for $5 Some people get free samples of food, working electronics.....
But it started giving me ideas on how to quickly liquidiate the junk in the house and make a few $ along the way.........
Anyone have experience with this as buyer or seller?
I wouldn't bother with this. If someone doesn't get what they want they'll reverse their credit card transaction or contact paypal.. people aren't going to be nice about it. Besides who takes a mystery box besides seedy characters? You'd make more money buying a nice video camera with a high quality microphone and doing your own unboxing youtube videos. People like the sound of boxes opening and packaging being removed.
